Learning with Redundant Multimedia Materials: One Size Does Not Fit All

Abstract:
In this presentation, Prof. Sola Adesope will describe his program of research on multimedia learning and cognitive load. Specifically his findings from a meta-analysis of verbal redundancy in multimedia learning environment and then follow up with empirical studies of redundant presentations. Prof. Adesope will conclude with future work and solicit input on how advances in cognitive load research can open up new frontiers of research in multimedia learning as well as the need to vigorously advance a translational research agenda in multimedia learning that will inform policy and practice.
